Residents forced to fetch water from streams as water scarcity causes a keg of water to sell for 250 Naira
Residents of some FCT communities have resorted to fetching water from the streams and rivers due to water scarcity.
The scarcity has caused a 25-litre keg of water to be sold for 250 Naira.
Residents living in Kubwa, Bwari, Dede, Dutse, Kaigini, among others, are the worst hit and they either have to patronise water hawkers at the rate of 250 Naira per keg or join long queues at public boreholes.
The FCT Water Board had last week appealed to residents to persevere pending when repair and maintenance work are carried out on the Usama Dam Treatment Plant.
Reacting to the water scarcity, Omoyele Sowore quoted the late Fela Kuti’s song, Original Suffer Head.
Below are photos showing what residents have to pass through to get water.
