Onyenji disclosed this while defending the 2022 reverse budget estimate of his ministry before the Anambra State House of Assembly committee on Culture and Tourism.

According to the commissioner, entries and designs for the legendary Agulu Lake Resort and collation of all heritage sites in Anambra state are ongoing to meet the tourist needs of the state.

Comrade Onyenji informed the committee that the state government has equally acquired land for the construction of Anambra state cultural centre that can showcase the state’s cultural heritage and serve as a tourist site, as well as generate income for the state and that the ministry will organize Anambra entertainment conference, beauty pageant, masquerade festival among others to achieve the vision of Governor Soludo.

While commending the ministry for putting up impressive budget defense, the Deputy Chairman of the committee, Honourable Nonso Okafor charged the key officials of the ministry to use the significant increase in their budget provision to make Anambra a tourism destination and directed them to furnish the committee with the details of the two point five billion naira earmarked for the Agulu Lake Resort project.

On his part, a member of the Committee, Honourable Patrick Obalum Udeoba, urged the ministry to incorporate Anambra River into the list of tourist sites that will be developed by the state government as they have tourism potential that can attract visitors and generate revenue for the state.
