West Ham contact Arsenal to discuss a £20million move for ‘powerful’ player

West Ham is one of a number of clubs interested in signing the winger this summer. Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest have also been linked with the 24-year-old. However West Ham being in London could give them the edge in the race.

Reiss Nelson has been at Arsenal since he was a boy, coming through the academy at Hale End alongside Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.

Nelson only last year signed a new contract at his boyhood club as he wanted to prove he had what it takes to make it at Arsenal. However after a lack of opportunities last season and him turning 25 later this year, he needs to be playing regular first-team football if he’s going to go on and fulfil his potential.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are all ahead of him in the pecking order under Mikel Arteta which restricted him to only one Premier League start during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Gunners are also in the transfer market for a new attacker this summer which will only restrict Reiss Nelson to less minutes ahead of next season.

Arsenal will always be in Nelson’s heart, however it appears to be the right time for the club and player to part ways this summer ahead of the 2024/25 season.
