Members of the Association of Resident Doctors of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, have embarked on an indefinite strike to register their grievances and frustration over the lingering blackout at the teaching hospital.
The industrial action was announced by the association’s General Secretary, Dr Uthman Adedeji, to the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, explaining that the strike is due to the power outage in some of the hospital’s residential areas.
Earlier, the association had issued a communiqué announcing its readiness to embark on an indefinite strike on Monday, February 17, 2025, if electricity was not restored.
According to Adedeji, while electricity had been restored, only some parts of the residential quarters were reconnected.
