Wikipedia Co-founder Jimmy Wales Walks Out of Interview 48 Seconds After “Founder” Question
A video circulating widely online captures the moment Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales abruptly ended an interview after just 48 seconds when confronted with a question about his role in creating the online encyclopedia.
During an appearance on German podcast Jung & Naiv, host Tilo Jung asked Wales whether he was the founder or co-founder of Wikipedia. The question immediately irritated Wales, who dismissed it as “the dumbest question in the world.”As Jung pressed further, suggesting there was ongoing debate about Wales’s correct title, the tech pioneer stood up, declared the question irrelevant, and walked off the set ending what has now become one of the platform’s shortest interviews ever.
The clip has since gone viral across social media, sparking fresh discussion about Wikipedia’s origin story and Wales’s long-debated role in it.
