His Majesty, Lawrence Okolio Chikezie Agubuzu, the Traditional Ruler of Ezema Olo Kingdom and Chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
In his address, the monarch emphasized the need for national unity, justice, and reconciliation.
He argued that resolving Kanu’s case through political dialogue rather than prolonged detention would help ease tensions in the Southeast and promote lasting peace.
Igwe Agubuzu also highlighted longstanding concerns about marginalization in the Southeast, urging the Federal Government to adopt inclusive policies that ensure fairness, equity, and balanced development across Nigeria.
His speech has since drawn widespread commendation, with many describing it as courageous, timely, and reflective of true statesmanship aimed at strengthening national cohesion.
