The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled two students over their alleged involvement in gay practice, describing the action as a violation of the institution’s code of conduct.
The decision was approved during the 31st Regular Meeting of the University Senate after it considered the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
The affected students were formally notified of their expulsion through letters issued by the university authorities.
In the same disciplinary exercise, the university also rusticated four other students for one academic session over their involvement in a fight on campus, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding its regulations.
Nigeria’s Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act criminalises same-sex relationships and related activities, while many universities also enforce codes of conduct that prohibit behaviour they consider contrary to their institutional values.
