World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is set to speak at the 2026 World Investment Forum (WIF) in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for October 25–27.

The 9th edition of the World Investment Forum is organised by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in collaboration with the State of Qatar. The event will bring together government leaders, ministers, CEOs, investors, development finance institutions and representatives of international organisations to discuss global investment and development.

Okonjo-Iweala is listed among the confirmed speakers for the forum in her capacity as Director-General of the WTO.

The forum will be held under the theme “Investing in the Future”, with discussions covering investment policy, sustainable finance, technology and artificial intelligence, climate investment, entrepreneurship, tourism and culture, and special economic zones.

According to UNCTAD, the forum is designed to connect policymakers with global capital providers, including sovereign wealth funds, development banks and institutional investors, while promoting investment that supports resilience, sustainability and inclusive development.

The upcoming forum also reflects Qatar’s growing role as a host for high-level international discussions on trade and investment. In July, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed, met with Okonjo-Iweala to discuss developments in international trade, challenges facing the multilateral trading system and ongoing WTO reforms.

The World Investment Forum has been held since 2008 and is described by UNCTAD as a major global platform for investment and development dialogue. The 2026 edition will take place in Doha from October 25 to 27, 2026.
