Mother And Daughter Called To Ghana Bar On Same Day

Dr. Hazel P. Berrard Amuah and her daughter, Adwuwa Fynna Nhyira Berrard Quayson, have celebrated a remarkable family milestone after both were called to the Ghana Bar on the same day.

The mother-and-daughter duo were among newly qualified lawyers admitted to the Ghana Bar on Friday, October 9, 2026, becoming Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

For Dr. Hazel, the achievement represents another major chapter in an already distinguished career. She has more than 28 years of professional experience spanning corporate leadership, human resources, insurance and business consultancy. She also previously served as the first female Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana.

Despite her demanding executive career and family responsibilities, Dr. Hazel pursued her legal education at the University of Ghana, completing her LLB and subsequent professional requirements over several years. Her daughter, Nhyira, was simultaneously pursuing her own path into the legal profession.

Their decision to study and qualify for the Bar around the same period created a unique bond, culminating in both being admitted to the Ghanaian legal profession at the same ceremony.

The achievement has drawn admiration because it demonstrates that professional education and personal growth can continue at different stages of life. For Nhyira, it marks the beginning of her legal career, while for her mother, it adds a new professional qualification to an accomplished career.

Their story has also become an inspiring example of determination, lifelong learning and the strength of family support, showing that mothers and daughters can pursue ambitious goals together while creating a lasting professional legacy.
