Ghana’s Black Starlets Triumph Over Nigeria, Secure Spot in WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship Final and 2026 U-17 AFCON

Ghana’s Black Starlets have made history by defeating Nigeria 2-0 in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

This victory not only propels them to the final but also secures their spot in the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

 

Michael Awuni and Robhino Gavi Yao scored the decisive goals in the first half, with Awuni netting in the 21st minute and Yao doubling the lead ten minutes later.

 

Ghana’s goalkeeper, Solomon Kwame, made crucial saves to maintain the clean sheet, including two impressive stops in the 80th minute.

 

The Black Starlets showcased their defensive prowess, remaining compact and organized throughout the match.

 

The Black Starlets will now face the winner of the other semi-final match between hosts Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso in the final. This match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams vying for the championship title.
