Thirty-six students from across Nigeria have emerged winners at the 23rd Annual National Mathematics Competition, earning scholarships and prizes in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
The awards were presented at a ceremony organised by Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) in collaboration with the National Mathematical Centre.Winners Emerge from Competitive Pool
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of NTIC, Fevzullah Bilgin, described the winners as exceptional students selected from a highly competitive national pool.
“Today, we celebrate 36 outstanding students—19 from the primary and junior categories receiving full scholarships, while 17 others will be awarded 100 per cent tuition scholarships,” he said.
Bilgin explained that the scholarships would cover the beneficiaries’ full secondary education across NTIC campuses, alongside additional rewards including cash prizes based on individual performance.
Over 10,000 Students Participated
He noted that the competition attracted over 10,000 participants nationwide, highlighting the rigorous selection process.
“From a highly competitive pool of over 10,000 participants, only 83 pupils in the primary category and 16 students in the junior category advanced to the second round. This alone is a remarkable accomplishment,” Bilgin said.
He commended all participants for their dedication, stressing that the recognition goes beyond the final winners.
“Regardless of today’s outcomes, each one of you is already a champion. Your commitment, resilience and passion for mathematics are commendable,” he added.
Investment in Education
Bilgin further disclosed that the institution commits over one billion naira annually to its scholarship programmes, describing it as a deliberate effort to support education and human capital development.
“This represents an investment exceeding one billion naira annually—an intentional contribution toward strengthening education and nation-building,” he said.
He added that beneficiaries would benefit from advanced academic programmes, including Olympiad training and global learning opportunities aimed at preparing them for admission into top universities worldwide.
