The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), in partnership with its development and innovation partners, has awarded a combined $277,000 to seven Nigerian startups at a Demo Day designed to support emerging businesses and accelerate innovation in the country.
The funding was presented to the selected startups following their participation in a programme focused on identifying and supporting promising Nigerian entrepreneurs with innovative solutions and strong growth potential.
The Demo Day provided the startups with an opportunity to showcase their products, business models and impact to investors, industry experts and other stakeholders.
The financial awards are expected to help the beneficiaries strengthen their operations, develop their products, expand their businesses and create additional employment opportunities.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and access to funding for startups in Nigeria, particularly businesses developing solutions to local and global challenges.
The seven beneficiaries are expected to deploy the funding towards scaling their ventures and improving their capacity to contribute to Nigeria’s growing startup ecosystem.
The NSIA said initiatives of this nature demonstrate the importance of collaboration between public institutions and private-sector partners in creating opportunities for young businesses and strengthening the country’s innovation economy.
