Harry Kane Wins 2026 Men’s Ballon d’or as Alexia Putellas Claims Women’s Award

Harry Kane has won the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to receive football’s most prestigious individual honour.

The Bayern Munich striker finished ahead of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal in the final rankings.

Kane’s victory follows an outstanding 2025–26 season in which he helped Bayern Munich secure two trophies. He also captained England at the FIFA World Cup, guiding the national team to its best finish at the tournament in 60 years.

In the women’s category, Barcelona and Spain star Alexia Putellas claimed her third Ballon d’Or after another remarkable season. Putellas enjoyed an all-conquering campaign with Barcelona and Spain, further cementing her status as one of the greatest players of her generation.

Lamine Yamal, despite missing out on the main award, had another successful night after winning the Men’s Kopa Trophy for the best young player. The Barcelona star became the first player to win the award three consecutive times.

Barcelona and Spain youngster Vicky López won the Women’s Kopa Trophy, recognising her emergence as one of the brightest young talents in women’s football.

In the club categories, Paris Saint-Germain were named the Men’s Club of the Year, while Barcelona received the Women’s Club of the Year award.

The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony therefore celebrated a historic night for Kane, another landmark achievement for Putellas, and the continued rise of some of football’s most promising young stars.
