An African football administrator has officially confirmed his bid to run for FIFA presidency, challenging Gianni Infantino, who is seeking a fourth term.
The 76th FIFA Congress took place in Vancouver on Thursday, and on the same day, Cameroonian Jean Crépin Nyamsi stepped up to challenge Infantino.During an interview with journalist Philippe Doucet and the Alain Foka Officiel channel, Nyamsi made his inentions clear.
“After traveling to many countries to speak about my candidacy, meeting with various heads of state, meeting both active and retired footballers, I believe that after three or four years of careful reflection, today I am ready and able to lead world football.
“I am a candidate in the FIFA presidential election set for 2027. I want to inform those attending the congress in Vancouver that there is now an official candidacy.”
Infantino has been in charge of the world football governing body FIFA since 2016
