AI CEO, Alexandr Wang Says Tech Must Catch Up Before Having Kids

As of August 2025, Alexandr Wang, the 28-year-old founder of Scale AI and newly appointed Chief AI Officer at Meta, has shared that he’s postponing parenthood until brain-computer interface technologies, such as Elon Musk’s Neuralink, become mainstream.

Wang believes that the first seven years of life offer unmatched neuroplasticity, making it the optimal period for integrating such technologies.

He envisions a future where children could be born with cognitive enhancements provided by these interfaces, allowing them to adapt and integrate in ways adults cannot.

Neuralink is currently in clinical trials, with a few patients having received implants. One patient with ALS reportedly used the implant to perform tasks like video editing.

While the technology shows promise, experts caution that enhancing neuroplasticity broadly across the brain using electrodes remains challenging.

Alternative methods, such as certain pharmacological agents, are also being explored for their potential to enhance brain plasticity.

Wang’s perspective underscores the growing intersection of advanced technologies and personal life decisions, highlighting the ethical and scientific debates surrounding the integration of such technologies into human development.
