Egypt’s participation in the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80)

On behalf of the President of the Republic, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, will head the Egyptian delegation participating in the Two-State Solution Conference and the opening of the High-Level Segment of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York City, USA. He will also deliver Egypt’s speeches at both the High-Level Meeting to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the World Conference on Women and the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, will deliver Egypt’s speech before the United Nations General Assembly.

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly is scheduled to attend several other meetings and events on the sidelines of his participation, as well as hold several bilateral meetings with leaders of sisterly and friendly countries and representatives of regional and international organizations.

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and his delegation departed Cairo International Airport early on Sunday morning, September 21, 2025, heading to New York City, USA.

 

The General Debate of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80)

 

The General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly will open on Tuesday, September 23, and continue through Saturday, September 27, concluding on Monday, September 29, 2025.

 

The main theme of the General Debate of the 80th session of the General Assembly is: “Better Together: Eighty Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.”

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli participates in the high-level meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, participated, on behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the high-level meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, in the presence of Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations in New York, in the United Nations General Assembly Hall.

 

 

During the meeting, Ms. Annalena Baerbock, President of the United Nations General Assembly, delivered a speech in which she addressed the general principles upon which the United Nations was founded, the organization’s Charter following World War II, and the aspiration for a world of peace. She noted the challenges facing the world today, which underpins the theme of this session, “Better Together: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.”Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, addressed the goals and principles of the United Nations at its founding, particularly in the areas of achieving peace, security, and protecting civilians. He explained that the world today faces violations of these principles, an example of which is the situation in Gaza, as well as the challenges of climate change.

 

A number of former leaders and heads of state, such as Liberia and Norway, also delivered speeches, addressing the values and principles of the United Nations and the importance of preserving them in the face of current challenges.

 

The gathering is one of the main events of the high-level segment of the UNGA’s 80th session.
