FG Announces N5bn Support For Kano Market Fire Victims.

It was has gathered that Vice-President Kashim Shettima has announced a N5 billion federal government donation to traders affected by the devastating fire that ravaged parts of Singer market in Kano on Saturday.

The announcement was made during a sympathy visit to the market on Monday, as part of a federal delegation led by Shettima.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier directed Shettima to lead the delegation to convey the government’s sympathy and support to the victims.

The president expressed alarm over the incident, which occurred less than two weeks after a previous fire destroyed dozens of shops and property at the same market.

The federal government’s support aims to help traders rebuild their businesses and revive commercial activities in the market.

Shettima described the incident as a national tragedy, noting that the loss extends beyond Kano state to the entire country. “The federal government stands with you in this moment of hardship and will continue to provide the necessary support,” he said.

Shettima was accompanied by governors from Jigawa, Kebbi, and Imo states on the visit. Junaid Zakari, chairman of the Singer Market Traders’ Association, expressed appreciation for the timely and generous intervention.

The N5 billion support is expected to provide relief to affected traders and help restore commercial activities in the market. The federal government’s swift response demonstrates its commitment to supporting businesses and promoting economic growth.
