Football’s world governing body, FIFA, has approved a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10 for all clubs participating in the upcoming 2025 Club World Cup.
In a statement released on Wednesday, FIFA said all 20 Member Associations with clubs involved in the tournament have agreed to the “exceptional registration window” to enable newly signed players feature in the competition.
The new-look Club World Cup will hold from June 14 to July 13 in the United States and will feature 32 clubs from across the world.
FIFA also announced an additional in-competition transfer period, scheduled for June 27 to July 3. According to the body, the aim is to help players with expiring contracts secure suitable deals that will allow them participate in the global showpiece.
“The objective is to encourage clubs and players whose contracts are expiring to find an appropriate solution to facilitate the players’ participation,” the statement said.
“This will ensure that the best players will be playing, allowing clubs to add new recruits even during the tournament.”
This is the first time the Club World Cup will be expanded to 32 teams, in line with FIFA’s broader efforts to increase competitiveness and global reach.
