    Ghanaians gather at Independence Square for Daddy Lumba’s one-week celebration

    Thousands of mourners converged at Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to commemorate the one-week observance of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.Originally scheduled for the University of Ghana Stadium, the venue was changed following a noise-making ban in the La Traditional Area.Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known professionally as Daddy Lumba, was born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta, Ashanti Region.

    He passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60, after a short illness at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra
