The United States has appointed Brandon Hudspeth as its new Consul General in Lagos, with the career diplomat expected to deepen economic, technology and security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States during his three-year tenure.
Hudspeth, who has returned to Lagos for a second diplomatic tour, succeeds Rick Swart, who retired from the U.S. Foreign Service in July. An accomplished diplomat and career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Hudspeth previously served as Political-Economic Section Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos between 2020 and 2022.
His return, therefore, gives him an advantage in understanding Nigeria’s economic and political environment, as well as the opportunities and challenges confronting businesses and investors.
