Nigerian Go-founded AI Startup Minicor Raises $3.8m In Seed Funding

San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup Minicor, co-founded by Nigerian software engineer Saheed Akinbile, has raised $3.8 million in seed funding to help businesses connect modern AI applications with legacy software systems.

The funding round was led by Brad Gillespie of IA Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, Paul Graham, Pioneer Fund, Robinhood Ventures, Garage Capital, Rebel Fund, K5 Global and 20VC, among other investors.

Minicor was founded by Akinbile and Faizaan Chishtie to address a major challenge facing businesses adopting artificial intelligence: many companies still depend on older desktop applications that were not designed to connect with modern software through application programming interfaces (APIs).

The startup’s technology allows developers to turn workflows in legacy desktop applications into API endpoints. This enables AI-powered applications to interact with existing business software without requiring companies to completely replace their older systems.

Minicor is targeting industries including healthcare, financial services, automotive and logistics, where businesses often rely on legacy systems to manage important operations.

The platform uses AI agents to create and repair automation workflows, while routine tasks can be handled through predefined processes. It also provides tools such as activity logs and video recordings to help businesses monitor automated actions.

Minicor has been processing thousands of workflows each week across healthcare and other legacy systems, demonstrating the potential demand for technology that can bridge the gap between emerging AI tools and established business infrastructure.

For Akinbile, whose professional background includes engineering roles at companies such as Ford and Morgan Stanley, the funding represents another milestone in his technology career. His journey adds to the growing number of Nigerian-born engineers and entrepreneurs building technology companies for global markets.

The new investment will provide Minicor with additional resources to develop its platform and expand its efforts to make AI adoption easier for businesses that cannot easily abandon their existing software infrastructure.
