Veteran Nollywood actress Iya Ile Okan has passed away, as confirmed by actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod on Wednesday.
Afod announced her death in a heartfelt post on his Instagram page, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
“We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. It’s a final wrap,” he wrote.
The filmmaker had recently visited the late actress at her home in Ogun State, where he revealed that she had been battling health challenges and struggling to pay her medical bills. He had earlier appealed to the public for financial assistance on her behalf. “Behind the smile lies pain and agony. Iya Ile Okan really needs God’s intervention,” Afod had shared during his visit.
News of her death has since drawn an outpouring of tributes from fans and Nollywood colleagues, who described her as a beloved mother figure and one of the industry’s unsung veterans whose impact spanned decades on stage and screen.
