OBI BEMOANS RENEWED KILLINGS IN BENUE, PLATEAU, CALLS FOR URGENT ACTION

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the renewed wave of deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau states, describing the killings as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Obi lamented the continued loss of innocent lives, saying the persistent violence has left many families devastated while forcing others to flee their homes in search of safety.

He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to take immediate and decisive action to restore peace in the affected communities. According to him, protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the primary responsibility of any government.

Obi also urged authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve security operations, and ensure that those responsible for the attacks are identified, arrested, and prosecuted to prevent further violence.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured during the attacks. He also appealed to humanitarian agencies to provide urgent support to displaced persons and affected communities.

The renewed violence in parts of Benue and Plateau has heightened concerns over insecurity in Nigeria’s North-Central region, with residents and community leaders continuing to call for stronger measures to end the recurring attacks.
