The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, under the chairmanship of Oba Oladipo Olaitan.Obi commended Afenifere, alongside its allied groups — the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Middle Belt Forum — for their steadfastness in championing justice, equity, and national unity.In a statement after the meeting, Obi revealed that discussions centred on Nigeria’s pressing challenges, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

He emphasized the need for a collective push to rebuild the nation, stressing that no region should be left behind in the quest for progress. “I sincerely thank them for their courage in always standing out for fearless justice and the unity of our country.

We had a useful meeting and discussed extensively about the current situation in our country, especially in the critical areas of education, health, and pulling people out of poverty,” Obi stated.
