PHOTOS: Tinubu Receives Royal Honour at Windsor Castle During Historic UK State Visit

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has begun a landmark state visit to the United Kingdom, marked by grandeur, diplomacy, and deep historical symbolism.

The visit—hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla—is the first by a Nigerian leader to Britain in 37 years, underscoring renewed efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between both nations.

At the heart of the visit was a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle, where Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu were received with full military honours.

The event featured a traditional carriage procession, inspection of the Guard of Honour, and a formal royal reception attended by senior members of the British royal family.

Photos from the event captured iconic moments, including Tinubu alongside the British monarch, both leaders reviewing troops, and the presidential couple riding in royal state coaches through Windsor. The ceremony also saw the presence of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, highlighting the importance of the occasion.

Inside the castle, the Nigerian delegation viewed a special exhibition of Royal Collection items connected to Nigeria, including cultural artifacts and literary works.

The visit also includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II and high-level meetings with British political and religious leaders.

In respect of the ongoing Ramadan, certain elements such as the traditional luncheon were adjusted, while a state banquet is scheduled after sunset.

The two-day visit is expected to focus on strengthening trade, cultural exchange, and diplomatic cooperation between Nigeria and the UK, reflecting growing economic and historical ties between both nations.

Overall, the images from the visit portray a blend of royal pageantry and strategic diplomacy—marking a significant moment in Nigeria–UK relations.
