Phyna accuses Dangote Group of breaking promise to fund sister’s treatment abroad

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of not honoring its promise to sponsor her sister Ruth’s medical treatment abroad.P

Phyna’s sister, Ruth, was involved in a serious road accident on August 13, 2025, close to Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. She was reportedly struck by a truck belonging to the Dangote company, allegedly operated by a minor without a valid driver’s license.The incident happened just six days after Ruth completed her graduation, resulting in the loss of her left leg. Medical professionals have also expressed concerns that her right leg might be in danger.

 

On Wednesday, Phyna shared a series of heartfelt updates, revealing that her recent physical visit to see Ruth exposed the severity of her condition, which she hadn’t fully grasped before.

 

She explained that she has been in continuous discussions with Dangote Group representatives, who initially agreed to her request to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment.Instead, Ruth was moved to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, and Phyna was asked to submit a comprehensive medical report which she did without delay.

 

However, according to Phyna, the company later changed its stance, saying they needed to get further medical consultations before proceeding.

 

She also mentioned that they demanded a second report from Lagoon Hospital, specifically confirming that the facility could not manage Ruth’s case.Instead, Ruth was moved to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, and Phyna was asked to submit a comprehensive medical report which she did without delay.

Phyna made a direct appeal to Aliko Dangote, urging him to personally step in to ensure her sister receives the urgent care she needs.“My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words,” she said.
