Nigerian diplomat, Jonathan Ojadah, has been conferred with Kenya’s prestigious National Hero of Peace Medal in recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding and international diplomacy across Africa.
The honour was presented in Nairobi during a high-profile ceremony jointly officiated by Kenyan President, William Ruto, and Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, symbolising a rare pan-African endorsement of Ojadah’s efforts toward conflict resolution, continental unity, and global cooperation.
The event marked a significant diplomatic milestone and a moment of pride for Nigeria, as Ojadah’s work continues to gain international recognition within peace and development circles.
A celebratory dinner followed the ceremony, hosted by former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, with dignitaries and stakeholders from across sectors in attendance to honour the awardee.Ojadah, who holds the title of Grand Commander of Peace (GCOP), has built a reputation as a key figure in international trade, investment diplomacy, and humanitarian engagement.
A native of Aviarha in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, he has participated in high-level diplomatic engagements across Europe and Africa, including platforms involving the European Union (EU), African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN).
His initiatives span advocacy for marginalized communities, promotion of peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, and climate action, as well as fostering cultural exchange and educational partnerships across nations.
He is also the founder of the Arise O Nigeria Empowerment Initiative; a non-governmental organisation focused on empowering vulnerable populations and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Currently serving as Global President and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the UNIPGC, Ojadah has played a key role in advancing the organisation’s global peacebuilding objectives.
Over the years, he has received multiple international recognitions, including leadership and humanitarian awards from institutions across Africa, Europe, and the United States, further cementing his profile as a leading voice in diplomacy and sustainable peace efforts.
The latest honour underscores his growing influence as a global advocate for peace and development, reinforcing his standing as one of Africa’s notable diplomats on the international stage.
