Samuel Eto’o re-elected as Cameroon FA President – 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

African football icon Samuel Eto’o has been re-elected as the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

The retired striker secured an emphatic mandate for another four-year term after he accumulated 85 votes out of the 87 cast, with the remaining two ballots declared invalid.

Eto’o, who was first elected in December 2021, reacted to his win by sharing a statement and a photo of him during a video call with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“The ultimate privilege: Congratulations from President Gianni Infantino,” the 44-year-old wrote on his official Instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRpLL7eAolW/?hl=en

“This day will remain memorable for my team and me: our delegates renewed their confidence, confirming our re-election and validating our work. It was made all the more special by the warm call from FIFA President, Mr. Gianni Infantino.

“Mr. President, I am deeply honored by your congratulations. I reaffirm my commitment to working for the development of Cameroonian and African football, in line with the vision of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. Alongside you, I will continue to make my modest contribution to the growth and influence of our football, which I know is very important to you.”

Eto’o is often regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time and one of the greatest African players of all time, having won the African Player of the Year a record four times, and the Cameroon record goalscorer is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.
