South Africa, 3 February 2026 Somalia and South Africa held bilateral talks in Pretoria on Tuesday aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation across key development sectors, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said.
Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Ali, met with South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to discuss enhancing collaboration in trade, education, health, agriculture and human capital development, the ministry said in a statement.
The discussions focused on practical follow-up actions to ensure cooperation delivers tangible benefits for the peoples of both countries, the statement added.
Ali expressed Somalia’s appreciation for South Africa’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and security. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination in regional and international forums on shared priorities, including peace, stability and development.
