South African law enforcement agencies have intensified their nationwide crackdown on crime and illegal immigration, leading to the arrest of 159 undocumented foreign nationals and more than 1,000 suspects during a series of coordinated operations.

The arrests were carried out as part of high-density police operations aimed at combating violent crime, illegal immigration, drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and other criminal activities.

Authorities said the suspects face a range of charges, including violations of the Immigration Act, murder, robbery, assault, drug-related offences, and possession of illegal weapons.

Police officials stated that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety, enforce immigration laws, and dismantle criminal networks operating across the country.

Those found to be in South Africa illegally will be processed in accordance with the country’s immigration laws, while suspects linked to other crimes will face prosecution.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and urged communities to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting criminal activities while avoiding acts of vigilantism or violence against foreign nationals.

Authorities emphasized that all enforcement actions are being conducted within the framework of the Constitution and the rule of law.
