UFC President Dana White has had an intense rivalry with a number of dignitaries in boxing, perhaps none as nasty as his long-standing verbal wars with Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.
White did the interview rounds on Tuesday, including a stop with Tucker Carlson, where the conversation shifted to his longevity and status as the head of the UFC. White told Carlson, “I will never retire.”
Hilariously, White told a story about Arum giving him props for his longevity and mobility at 94 years old. However, White also made sure to remind us all, “I hate him.”
“I hate him, he’s an a##hole,” White said. “But, uh, Bob Arum, yeah, boxing promoter, yeah—he’s 94 years old, right? I hate him. This guy’s the biggest douchebag of all time. But I’m—I’m had—you’re not for him? You’re saying he’s a d#####bag? Uh, so I am at the Aces WNBA game, right? Bob Arum is 94 years old—94. It’s nine o’clock at night. He’s sitting over there courtside. I’m like, ‘Holy ###t, Bob Arum is here. This is crazy. This guy’s 94 years old.’ Oh, I didn’t—he wouldn’t have seen it anyway—he’s sitting over there. It’s 8:30. I ###t you not—two days later, I’m watching a fight. Bob Arum is in Saudi Arabia, ringside at a boxing event. Two days later, he’s in London at a press conference. He’s 94 years old! I hate him. But you got to respect it, right? How do you not respect that?”
White and Arum’s rivalry could got to another level later this year when the rumored TKO Boxing League is set to begin. Depending on Arum and Top Rank’s involvement, him and White could ultimately be partners or have even more animosity between them.
The UFC is in Sydney, Australia on Saturday for the second PPV event of the year.
The card is headline by a middleweight championship rematch between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland.
