Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK or NAU), Awka over the weekend announced the appointment of Prof Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as its new substantive Vice-Chancellor, effective November 19, 2025.

The announcement was contained in a press release from the Office of the Head, Information & Public Relations at UNIZIK, on November 16, 2025.

The appointment of Anyaehie was approved by the university’s Governing Council for a single tenure of five years.

Anyaehie, a renowned Professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurements who was appointed by the Pro-chancellor and Chairman, Barr. Monsur Kukoyi Olugbenga will be taking over from Professor (Dame) Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, who has been serving as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
