The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide, with the third phase scheduled to commence on Monday, May 11, 2026.
INEC disclosed this in a statement issued on May 5 by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
The commission stated that the exercise would run until Friday, July 10, 2026, marking the final phase of the ongoing voter registration process.
It recalled that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow for the clean-up of the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.
INEC urged eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration phases, to take advantage of the opportunity to register.
The commission also advised registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to utilise its online portal or visit its offices nationwide.
It further announced that the voter register would be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026.
INEC said the display period would allow citizens to examine the register and assist in ensuring its accuracy and credibility.
The commission noted that the exercise forms part of its statutory responsibility to maintain an up-to-date and reliable voter database.
INEC assured Nigerians that adequate preparations have been made to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process across the country.
It appealed to all eligible citizens to participate actively in the exercise as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s electoral system.
The commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent voter registration process.
