Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has died at the age of 90, prompting tributes from President Bola Tinubu, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and other political leaders.

Tukur, who also served as governor of the old Gongola State and held ministerial responsibilities, was remembered for his long career in public service, politics, business and pan-African affairs. President Tinubu described him as a towering figure whose contributions to Nigeria would continue to be remembered.

Following his death, Governor Fintiri declared three days of mourning across Adamawa State and directed that government flags be flown at half-mast in honour of the former governor. His burial was scheduled to take place in Yola on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, business mogul Aliko Dangote said shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery could eventually rise to as much as N10,000 per share, far above the current IPO offer price of N525. The refinery’s planned offering comprises 4.1 billion shares and is expected to raise about N2.15 trillion.

The refinery’s IPO is expected to open on September 14 and close on October 13, with trading expected to begin later in November. The offer is aimed significantly at retail investors, giving ordinary Nigerians an opportunity to acquire stakes in the refinery.

Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom also explained his decision to lend his official vehicle to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi during Obi’s visit to Benue, attracting public attention to the gesture.
