Residents are waiting for results after voting ended for the Federal Capital Territory area council elections held on Saturday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. Sorting and counting of votes have also been completed at the polling unit level, and staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have begun to pack their materials from the various polling units that our reporters monitored.
The election witnessed a very low turnout of voters at several polling units, especially in many parts of Abuja city. Our reporters monitored the election at places like Tudun Wada Primary and Secondary School in Wuse Zone 4, Government Secondary School in Wuse Zone 3, Junior Secondary School Mabushi Abuja, Kuchingoro Primary School on the outskirts of Abuja city centre, and other polling units in Gwarimpa and Garki areas.
