Nigeria’s D’Tigers blow out Uganda, move to 2nd in Afrobasket qualifiers

In their 5th Afrobasket qualifier, Nigeria’s D’Tigers recorded an 87-67 win against Uganda.

Nigeria’s national basketball team, the D’Tigers, maintained their hopes of qualifying for the event with a crucial victory over Uganda in an exciting performance at the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.

Nigeria overcame a difficult start with an incredible fourth-quarter performance to win the game by a landslide of 87-67 at the Grand Hall in Tripoli, Libya.

Uganda took the first quarter 16-12 and the second quarter 18-16 and Nigeria trailed 28-34 at the halftime break.

D’Tigers bounced back to take the third quarter 27-25 cutting the deficit late.

Their combined efforts were vital in Nigeria’s comeback and eventual success.

The D’Tigers were behind going into the last quarter, but they went on a rampage and defeated Uganda 32–8.

Caleb Agada led the team with 20 points while Ike Nwamu scored 18 points, both of which were outstanding performances.

This result revitalizes Nigeria’s campaign in the qualifications, setting them for a pivotal battle against Cape Verde next.

The D’Tigers must win this next game in order to move on in the competition and guarantee their place in the AfroBasket 2025.
