Popular Content Creator, Sunshine Buried Amid Tears

Popular Nigerian content creator Iniobong Esther Louis, widely known as Sunshine, has been buried in Lagos following her death earlier this month.

She was 34 years old. According to information shared by close associates, Sunshine passed away on January 9, 2026, after experiencing complications related to fibroid surgery that reportedly began in December 2025.

 

Medical Journey Before Her Passing A friend of the late creator, Chidera Madu, said Sunshine was first admitted to Orchid General Hospital when her health challenges began.

 

However, amid a nationwide doctors’ strike at the time, she was reportedly given only pain relief treatment without a full diagnosis. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to another medical facility on January 2 for further care. Despite these efforts, she later died from complications linked to the surgery.

 

Burial Arrangements in Lagos Following her passing, friends and family publicly appealed for financial support to help organise a dignified burial.

 

Funeral rites began at Lagos Island General Hospital in Marina on Wednesday. Her remains were later taken to Atan Cemetery in Yaba, where she was laid to rest in the presence of family members, friends, and colleagues from the creative community. Remembering Sunshine Sunshine, who hailed from Nnung Udoe Itak in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was known for her engaging online skits and vibrant personality.

 

Tributes from fans and fellow creators have continued to pour in, highlighting her impact in Nigeria’s digital entertainment space.

 

 

Her death has also sparked conversations about access to timely medical care and the challenges faced by patients during disruptions in the healthcare system.
