Senegalese football star Sadio Mané has launched a major agro-industrial project in his hometown of Bambali, in Senegal’s southern Sédhiou region, as he continues to invest in economic development within his community.

The project, known as SM10 Agro, involves an announced investment of 11.7 billion CFA francs (about $20 million). Mané laid the foundation stone for the project on September 19, 2026.

The planned 500-hectare agro-industrial park will focus heavily on mango production and processing. It is expected to have the capacity to process about 8,500 tonnes of mangoes annually, producing products such as mango pulp, dried mango and mango butter.

The project is also expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs at the initial stage, with the long-term target rising to about 2,500 jobs. Training and research facilities are also planned as part of the development.

According to reports, the initiative is intended to address agricultural losses in the Sédhiou region, where significant quantities of mangoes are reportedly lost because of limited storage and processing facilities. The project aims to keep more of the value from local agricultural production within the region.

The SM10 Agro project adds to Mané’s previous investments in Bambali. Reports have documented his support for projects including a school, hospital, mosque, petrol station and other community infrastructure.
