Sports and music can’t make you a billionaire- Anthony Joshua

Nigerian-born British boxer and two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has shared insights on achieving billionaire status. He emphasised that reaching a billionaire status requires more than just excelling in sports or entertainment.

Anthony Joshua boasts a net worth of approximately $83 million (£64 million) in 2024, according to Forbes.
Joshua advised athletes and entertainers to look beyond the allure of fame and focus on the business aspects of their careers for sustainable growth.

Taking to his Snapchat, Anthony Joshua wrote:
“For anyone to reach billionaire status, it will not be through sports, music, or entertainment. Don’t get lost in the hype. Focus on sustainability, books, and business ethics.”

Globally, only a select few entertainers and athletes have joined the billionaire club, often due to strategic ventures outside their primary fields. According to Forbes, sports and music icons such as Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James have achieved billionaire status, largely thanks to endorsements, product lines, and business investments.

While sports and entertainment industries offer immense earning potential, history shows that diversifying income streams and making the right investments are key to long-term wealth. Anthony Joshua’s message serves as a wake-up call for young professionals in these fields to prioritise financial literacy and sustainable practices over fleeting fame.
