United States President Donald Trump on Thursday spoke highly of First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, describing her as “a very respected woman”.
Trump made the remark at the 74th National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C.
A video of the event has gone viral on social media.
“We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at one of the largest churches. A very respected woman,” the US President said.
Mrs Tinubu is an ordained pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), which is one of the largest and most influential churches in the world.
Trump also sought the Nigerian First Lady for recognition among the teeming number of dignitaries and other attendees.
“First Lady, where are you? Thank you very much. It is a great honour to have you with us,” Trump said as he directly addressed Mrs. Tinubu.
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event attended by members of the US Congress, religious leaders and international guests for prayer, reflection and dialogue on issues of faith, leadership and national development.
