The Ministry of Finance has approved payment of salary arrears owed to Nurses and Midwives posted in the 2024/2025 recruitment year.
This approval follows a successful negotiation initiated by the Ministry of Health.
In a statement, the Health Ministry indicated that the payment will be done in four (4) instalments starting from April to July.
They said two months salary arrears will be paid in April and three months payments are scheduled for each month between May and July.
“The Ministry of Health has successfully concluded negotiations regarding the payment of salary arrears owed to Nurses and Midwives posted in the 2024/2025 recruitment year” The Ministry said in a statement.
“Following extensive engagement with the Ministry of Finance, approval has been granted for the outstanding arrears to be paid in four (4) instalments from April through July.” It added.
Approved Payment Schedule:
1. April – Two (2) months
2. May – Three (3) months
3. June – Three (3) months
4. July – Three (3) months
According to the Ministry of Health, the government is poised to clear all outstanding obligations in a timely, responsible, and sustainable manner.
“This structured payment arrangement underscores Government’s firm commitment to clearing all outstanding obligations in a timely, responsible, and sustainable manner” They noted.
The Ministry commended the Nurses and Midwives for their patience and professionalism.
“The Ministry of Health commends the nurses and Midwives for their patience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to service delivery despite the delays experienced.” The statement read.
“The Ministry also expresses sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for the priority, attention and urgency given to this matter. Government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare, motivation, and well-being of all health workers across the country” It added
